I was on vacation last week in North Topsail Island, North Carolina. There’s not much to do in North Topsail Island, North Carolina besides taking long walks on the beach, body surfing, reading, napping, and catching up with family. And that was fine by me.
I’m a big believer in vacations, in getting away from it all, slowing down, and simply enjoying life as it is…without expectations or an agenda.
Here are some quotes I like along those lines…
“There is more to life than increasing its speed.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
“All miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in a room alone.”
– Blaise Pascal
“Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is the noble art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of nonessentials.”
– Lin Yu Tang
“We cannot be happy if we expect to live all the time at the highest peak of intensity. Happiness is not a matter of intensity, but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony.”
– Thomas Merton
“There is nothing in all creation so like God as stillness.”
– Meister Eckhart
Do you have any quotes you’d add to my list?
